DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Department of Strategy, Innovation and Communication (DSIC), led by the Executive Director of Strategy, Innovation and Communications has an essential mandate to drive implementation of the new 10-year institutional 2030 WorldFish Research and Innovation Strategy: Aquatic Foods for Healthy People and Planet. The DSIC is responsible for developing and implementing the strategic planning and results-based management process to support and advance the organizational transformation envisioned in the strategy. It guides and supports development and alignment of strategies, annual work plans and quarterly review processes of core functions and country offices with the overall institutional strategy, nurturing a high-performance culture oriented towards results, cross-functional collaboration, learning, innovation, digital transformation, as well as effective internal and external communications. The DSIC incubates and supports design and implementation of cross-functional initiatives under the sponsorship of its Executive Director, the Director General, investing in and growing strong strategic planning and results-based management capacities across the organization for greater impact and outreach.

ABOUT THE POSITION

Reporting to the Executive Director of Strategy, Innovation and Communications, the role of the Strategic Planning Lead, is a new position created to support implementation of the new 10-year institutional strategy. S/he will play an important role in enabling positive organizational change and growth envisioned in the strategy by leading development and implementation of a strategic and integrated annual planning and quarterly review process; cascading strategy at all levels of the organization through results-based management approaches and the application of the Balance Scorecard methodology; assessing various aspects of WorldFish’s strategic and operational performance; encouraging synergies between core functions and country offices to leverage synergies, optimize resources and achieve long-term sustainability; and building capacities for strategic planning and result-based management across the organization.
