What We Need

We are looking for an amazing Controller to join our Team as our first Accounting Department hire in Malaysia. You will report to the Controller - Global Operations (US based). This position is remote.


Who You Are

You will work on all aspects of day-to-day accounting for many of our international entities, be responsible for a multitude of projects and gain expertise in entity structuring. You will also act as a cross-functional business partner to the Controller - Global Operations to implement automation and create process improvements to optimize the month-end close and other department initiatives. For avoidance of doubt, this role will not have any fund-accounting responsibilities and prior fund accounting experience is not required.


What You Will Be Doing

  • Hands-on operational and technical accounting
  • Responsible for managing and supporting the US and international entities' month-end closing process and consolidation
  • Taking ownership of the multi-currency consolidation process for both monthly internal management and statutory purposes
  • Review of monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations, including multi-currency intercompany reconciliations, consolidations and eliminations
  • Calculate and record various allocations
  • Identify and help resolve problems affecting accounting records
  • Responsible and point of contact for compliance, filings, reports and payment of taxes to meet international requirements.
  • Responsible for expense reimbursements and corporate credit card management
  • Responsible for full cycle Accounts Payable for the US entities
  • Gather data and prepare reports for the annual financial and statutory audits
  • Assist in developing and documenting business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
  • Ensure timely resolution and escalation of outstanding reconciling items or follow-up questions
  • Participate in special projects, including process improvements
  • Performs other related duties as necessary or assign

Requirements

  • 5+ years related work experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting and/or finance
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts and current accounting principles
  • Analytical, quantitative and organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and high accuracy
  • Interpersonal relations: particularly tact, sensitivity, professionalism, confidentiality and diplomacy
  • The ability to work well under pressure and balance multiple priorities with a drive to achieve results and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and to use good judgment in decision making
  • Strong proficiency with NetSuite and MS Office (Excel + Google Sheets)
  • Knowledge of international audit, tax and finance requirements and compliance in APAC is a PLUS
